Ideas on how to celebrate your dogs birthday or gotcha day
Dogs today, are way more than just pets, and are now part of our families. This is why we like to celebrate their special occasions, just like the humans in our lives.
Not all dog owners know their dogs actual birthday, and some prefer to celebrate the anniversary of the day their pet joined their family. This is why the ever popular Gotcha Day was introduced.
Here are some ideas on how you can celebrate these special days with your dog.
#1 - Visit a dog friendly restaurant, pub or café
These days loads of establishments allow dogs, and many encourage it. You can often find free dog treats, and can even find eateries that have a doggie menu!
This can be a treat for both you and your dog, especially if they get a nice walk there and back.
Although most dog friendly places offer dog water bowls and sometimes even dog water stations, always take water with you, just in case. Also, consider taking a toy (preferably not a squeaky one), and possibly a blanket with you so they can feel more comfortable. Keep them close to you and stay alert. Most importantly, you know your dog, so you will know when they are getting bored, tired, or need the toilet, so this is the time to leave.
#2 - Dress your dog to impress
We all like to see dogs having fun and celebrating, and the photos we can take for the memories are priceless.
Whether its a simple party hat and bowtie, or a full outfit, you know what your dog enjoys. Get creative with your photos and share them with family and friends.
#3 - Go to a dog friendly park
Its known that most dogs favourite part of their day, is their walk. Whether its a lead walk, throw and fetch practice, a paddle in water, or a mix, they just love the outdoors. The exercise, sniffing and playing keeps them happy and healthy as well as being ideal for their mental stimulation.
If its a nice warm day, consider taking a picnic for both you and your dog. Don't forget water for your furry friend!

#4 - Chose the pawfect present

Soft toys for your dog, and fetch balls to encourage both to spend time together. Party hats and a bowties for that special birthday/gotcha pose. A celebration drink and a doggie safe celebration cupcake to mark their special day. Our luxury packages are finished off with a personalised birthday or gotcha card.
#5 - Celebrate with a dog safe cake
Nothing says birthday or gotcha more than a cake and candle. Can your dog blow the candle out?
#6 - Play Games
We all know that our dogs love nothing more than spending time with us. On this special day there are loads of different games that you can do together. Here are some ideas:
Chase and fetch
Tug of war
Hide, sniff & seek
Learning new tricks
Agility training
Frisbee
#7 - Have longer snuggle sessions
Not all dogs like to snuggle, but they will have their own version of affection. Snuggling is said to increase the bond you have with your dog and strengthens the trust between you, and lets face it, we love it too. There is no feeling like it when your dog snuggles next to you at the end of your day. Lets remember though, like humans, dogs have different personalities. Some dogs love the full on lap cuddling, whereas others keep more of a distance but might still like a belly rub. You know your dog, what they like and when they feel safe.
#8 - Throw a dog birthday party
